Boy Scout Troop 391
Standing Rules

This document provides an overview of Boy Scout Troop 391. It is intended for use as an orientation guide for new parents as well as a record of Troop policies and procedures. Troop 391 and anyone who is connected with the Troop, directly or indirectly, shall be governed by the constitution and the by-laws of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and/or such rules and regulations as may be adopted and approved by the Troop Committee as long as they do not conflict with the constitution and the by-laws of the National Council.

General Rules
The Troop is governed by the Boy Scout Oath and law which state:

Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake,
and morally straight.

Scout Law
A Scout is:

With that in mind there is little need for much else. As a Troop we add these 3 other guidelines:

1. Don't annoy the adults.
2. Don't bleed, break bones or get sick.
3. Have fun.

Points for parents:

1. We do our best to enable your son to have fun, try new adventures and learn stuff (Some really, really useful stuff. Some stuff that is just fun to know), keep him safe and bring him home in more or less the same condition as when he left for the event.
2. You are welcome in fact encouraged, to become part of the adult crew. We'll find something useful for you to do. You may even get to know your son better and have some fun yourself. You are permitted to be an adult Scouter (leader) or a parent, but not necessarily at the same time.
3. For summer camp:
You can pack as many sets of socks or underwear for your son as you want. Most will come home exactly as you packed them.
Scouts can leave camp for genuine family emergencies or for violating #1 or #2 of the three guidelines above.
4. If you don't trust us, this is the wrong Troop for your son.

We do have more polices or ways of doing things but that’s the basics. The rest of them are in a set of Frequently Asked Questions, better known as a FAQ and should answer most if not all of you questions or concerns, Should you have others please do not hesitate to ask.
